Royal River, Section 206 Study

Royal River FallsIn 2017, the Yarmouth Town Council requested assistance from the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) to explore opportunities for ecosystem restoration in the Royal River. After engaging the public and interested stakeholders, the Town and USACE agreed to move forward with a Section 206, Federal Interest Determination Study. 

Section 206 Aquatic Ecosystem Restoration, of the Water Resources Development (WRDA) of 1996, as amended, authorizes USACE to carry out aquatic ecosystem restoration projects that will improve the quality of the environment, are in the public interest, and are cost-effective. USACE conducted an initial appraisal and determined there is a Federal interest for an Aquatic Ecosystem Restoration project at this location along the Royal River.
